Lord SadaShiva and his Army
Lord Shiva is Pashupati (Lord of all beings) , Trayambak (Three Eyed) , Pushtivardhanam (Istrength Nurturer), Neelkantha(Blue Throat) and Chandrasekhar (Moon Crown).
The Ganas of Lord Shiva are Yaksha, Gandharva, Yoginis, Nayikas, Kinnar-Kinnaries, Naag (Serpents), Bhoot (Ghosts), Pret (Ghouls), Veitaal (Vampires), Veitaal, Daakinis, Shaakinis and Bheiravs
The Ganas of Lord Shiva are generally worshipped as Gods. They are specially worshipped during the Tantric Sadhanas. The Sadhana of Ganas of Lord Shiva is primarily a Tantric Sadhana, which immediately bestows a strong protection-shield and gifts boons of Siddhis.
The most hallowed God roams around the snow-clad Himalayas, without any garments on the skin, whose attires are the directions themselves, elephant-tiger hide wrapped over the waist, clad in fragrance of pyre-ashes, neck adorned with skull-garland, tresses gobbled up in mattes, poison in throat, snakes wrapped over the body, plays in the crematorium along with ghouls-vampires Ganas, dances carelessly in solitude and is the most benevolent God “Shiva” to His devotees in this world. It is a highly mysterious paradox that Sadashiva remains gentle when absorbed within Himself, and turns into fierce form whilest gazing at the wrongs in the universe.

The gentle Saguine form of Lord Shiva is so wonderful, sweet, delightful and enticing that His intense facial glow puts Sfatika, Shankha-Conch, Kunda, Dugdha-milk, Karpoor and Chandrama–moon to shame. Even the Nectarous full moon, originated during sea-churning, cannot match the aura of His dazzling face. The various jewels of Lord Shiva – attractive three-eyes, child-moon, matte-crown and the ever-flowing milky pure Ganga captivates the mind. The divine scene of Lord Shiva sitting with Shiv-Shaktiroopa Uma on pure Himaadri colorful Nandi is as divinely beautiful as Brahmavidhya sitting with Lord Brahma on the Dharma itself.
The literal meaning of word Shiva is Grace and Lord Shiva is Shankar. “Shan” means “Grace” and “Kar” means “One who Does” i.e. the one who imparts Grace. The Sadhaks of Grace bestowing Lord SadaShiva have honored Him with many names and adjectives. Lord SadaShiva is distinguished by many names-adjectives in Puranas and other Indian spiritual holy texts.
Names of Shiva – Ishaan, Aghor, Tatpurush, Vaamdeva and Saddhojaat
Lord Shiva is distinguished by variety of names in the Puranas. The legacy of these various names of Lord Shiva is based upon His multiple actions, forms, attributes, locales, vehicle, weapon etc. Five such names are exclusively used – Ishaan, Aghor, Tatpurush, Vaamdeva and Saddhojat. Lord “Shiva” is called “Ishaan” as He is the Lord of the entire universe. He is termed “Aghor” as He purifies the sinners of imperfect deeds. He is named “Tatpurush” for spiritual-upliftment, “Vaamdev” for destruction of terrible flaws and “Sadhojaat” for baby-like innocence-purity.
He is called “Trayambakeshwar” for possessing three eyes – Moon-Sun-Fire. All stationary and roaming beings are generally classified as Pashu (animals) and He is called “Pashupatinaath” as He protects them from ignorance.
He has been continually worshipped as “Mahadev” as He is the God of the Gods. The name “Sahastraaksh” is a sign of His dominance. He is God of all ghosts and learnings, and so, He is also known as “Maheshwar“.
The Love form Chandrasekhar of Lord Shiva is also known as “Pushtivardhan“. This name signifies strength, development and grace. Lord Shiva tied the Haricharnaamrit (Divine Elixir from Lord Vishnu’s feet) Ganga in His mattes, and so He is called as “Gangadhar“.
He is called “Neelkanth” for holding the Kaalkoot extremely toxic poison in His throat through Yogic powers. At the request of Gods, to eliminate toxicity, He wore Moon on His forehead, and came to be called “Chandrasekhar, Shashisekhar“.
The coolness of the moon counters the combined heat of Fire of His Third-Eye and Kaalkoot poison in His throat. Dominance over death is depicted by His holding of Kaalkoot poison in His throat and SheshNaag serpent over His neck. Lord Shiva is the “Parmeshwar” who is worshipped by the extremely Tamas Asuras (Demons), Deityas, Yakshas, Bhoots, Prets, Pishaachas, Vetaals, Daakinis, Shaakinis, Kinnars-Kinnaries, Yoginis, Snakes Lions etc.
Significance of Shiv Ganas –
Holy Father Almighty SadaShiva visited the King of Himalaya with all Gods-Goddesses and Ganas to solemnize marriage to Mother Bhagwati Parvati. The bride’s family were impressed with the grandeur and sweetness of the Gods-deities and mistakenly took them for the groom. Indra clarified their mistake and told them that – We are the lowest kinds of devotees, of the devotees (Ganas) of Lord Shiva.
Like Lord Shiva, the glory of His Ganas is uniquely outstanding, these devotees possess supernatural powers like Lord Shiva. The tradition-process of worshipping Lord Shiva has been prevalent from the ancient times.
Any person can get his wishes fulfilled and obtain pleasures by worshipping these Ganas. The Ganas of Lord Shiva have many amazing supernatural powers.
Lord Shiva is the Master-Creator of the Tantra. Tantra consists of Maaran (Destruction), Vashikaran (Captivation), Stambhan (Stupefy), Uchchaatan (Severance) , Mohan (Attraction) etc., and these practices are used to promote or destroy humanity. One can perform any of the many available Tantra Sadhanas to fulfill the desires.
Ganas of Shiva
The Ganas of Lord SadaShiva – Yaksh, Naag, Kinnar, Rakshas, Naayika, Pishaach, Daakini, Bhoot, Pret are gentle and have similar physical form like humans. However, their natural qualities differ from humans, and they each have unique supernatural capabilities. They live in different areas within the universe. Humans reside on Earth, Gods in Heaven, Gandharva in Gandharva -Lok, and Naags in the Naag-Lok, which is located within the Paataal (Abyss) below Earth. Everyone has a different habitat, located in Earth, Space, Air or Abyss. The powers of Bhoot-Pret (Ghosts-Ghouls), Pishaach (Vampires), Daakinis and Yoginis are Beauty, Hypnotism, Enjoyment and similarly related supernatural capabilities. They are masters in these awe-inspiring amazing super powers.
Description of some of the major Shiv Ganas of Lord Sada Shiva –
Nidhipati Yaksha and Yakshini –
The males are termed as Yakshas and their females are Yakshinis. Nidhipati “Kuber” is their sovereign and He is the treasurer of the Gods. Nidhipati Kuber has also been described in Jainism and Buddhism texts. They have a definite physical form, yet they can travel anywhere in their subtle or phantom form.
The Tantra texts mention that the Yakshinis grant beauty-wealth, when they get pleased with their Sadhaks. Detailed descriptions of Yaksha and Yakshini Sadhanas are available in Tantra scriptures.
The Naayikas are part of the sub-category of Yakshinis and Apsaras and have highly enchanting captivating beauty. Their Sadhana is performed to gain Hypnotic capabilities and enhance beauty. They know every kind of method to attract women. The major eight ones are –

Kinnharis are famous for their singularly unique and extremely enchanting beauty. They speak very softly and are excellent singers. They have an amazing skill to transform into any form. It is very easy and quick to obtain a boon from them. They are known as the group of Six Kinnaris –

- Shubhaga Kinnari
- Vishaal Netra Kinnari
- Surat Priya Kinnari
- Sumukhi Kinnari
- Diwakar Mukhi Kinnari
Kinnari Sadhana is very beneficial for music and beauty.
The Bhoot, Pret, Pishaach, Vetaal and Daakini etc. have existed in the human race since ancient times. All of these are super natural powers. We cannot visualize air,and yet it exists in the atmosphere, similarly these powers have existed since time immemorial. All of them are considered as followers of Lord Bhoot Nath i.e. Lord Shiva. Their consorts Bhootini, Pretini, Pishaachini, Vetaalini etc. are followers of Divine Mother Shivaa, consort of Lord Bhootnath. Being followers of Lord Shiva and Bhagwati Shivaa, they are endowed with all kinds of divine supernatural powers. And have full capability to fulfill the desires of the devotees of their Lord Shiva-Shivaa.
Naaga Devata –
The Serpents and Naagas (Snakes) performed arduous austerities-penance of Gods and achieved special positions. Snakes and Naagas are the adornments of Lord Shiva, Bhagwati Goddess Tara, Kali etc. Lord Vishnu also nurtures the whole universe reclining on the bed of Shesh Naaga. Thus the snake species is also endowed with a variety of supernatural powers and is worshiped for the fulfillment of various desires.
Goddess Mansa, who is the daughter of Lord Shiva, is also called as Naag Mother. The major serpents are –

Yoginis are constant companions of Mother Goddess Parvati. Yoginis are the associative powers of Aadhi Shakti Kali and always live with Lord Shiva’s consort Parvati. Aadi Shakti Kali and associated Yoginis incarnated during the battle with Demon Ghor. They are endowed with multiple kinds of supernatural powers. Divine powers like Vashikaran (Hypnotism) , Maaran (Destruction), Stambhan (Stupefy) etc. can be successful only by their grace. There are eight major Yoginis and they are known as Chausath (Sixty Four) Yoginis. They assume different forms as per their natural qualities and attributes. Yoginis get pleased very quickly and they bless accomplishments to their Sadhaks.
They are fully proficient in all skills of Tantric knowledge and Yoga Sadhana. They fulfill all kinds of desires of their Sadhaks. Mother Parvati fed Her own blood to these accompanying Yoginis to quench their hunger by cutting off Her head. She became famously known as Chhinnmasta. Mother Parvati loves them as Her own children and nurtures them.
Bheiravs are the exclusive servers of Lord Shiva. The word Bheirav is literally constructed by combining four syllables – Bha, Aye, Ra and Va. Bha means Light, Aye indicates Action-energy-power, and Rava means Guidance. Thus Bheirav is the one, who guides the entire world by combining His nature with actions. Bheiravs liberate their devotees from all kinds of fears, considering them as their own one and equal.
Bheirav is renowned as Lord Shiva’s special servants and are themselves considered as a reflection of Lord Shiva. They are masters of other Shiv Ganas like Bhoot-Pret, Pishaachs etc. They originated through Mother Parvati’s grace and thus they are as powerful and capable as Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. Fear is their expression.
