Live a life of Consciousness
Don’t just remain Alive, Enliven your life
Life is full of vim and verve
The dead hearts just wither away
Live consciously on your terms
Everyone wishes to live their life as per their choice, and wish all events to occur according to their desire. This seems to be an easy and simple statement, but does the life comprise only survival and performing worldly deeds?
Therefore, create a balance in your life. Execute your actions with awareness, terminate the messiness and live joyfully according to your choice.
Simply stated, life doesn’t mean just survival, rather it means choosing to live as per your wish. This statement seems very easy to comprehend, and sounds natural. Oh brother! if God has gifted us this life, He didn’t intend us just to survive and stay alive. God desires that we lead our lives naturally with full joy. How to lead life on our choices? It is necessary to give some thought to this. You should first understand that setting up the right goals is very significant in trying to lead life on our choices. The goal i.e. the destination where you wish to take your life to. You should have a clear map in your mind about the destination which you desire to reach. If you need to travel from Raipur to Delhi and you use the map to Madras, then how will you reach Delhi? How can you achieve your desired wishes using an inaccurate map. It is very strange that some people take decisions to determine their goals within a few minutes. You check and investigate hundreds of items in multiple shops, before purchasing a single item in the market. Your life is very valuable, how can you decide a goal in haste. Think thoroughly, do a complete analysis, assess your situation carefully, before determining your goals. Then, what is the reason that people are unable to lead their life as per their choice. They just survive and stay alive, the only reason for this is the absence of any organization, any goal or any plan in their life. Everything is messy and disorderly, and we continue to lead a chaotic lifestyle in the mad rush.
In the current modern life, everyone is in a hurry and is rushing faster. Everyone is scared of being left out in the rat race. All sorts of disturbances occur in the pursuit of this melee.
Stay busy, instead of being chaotic
Such lifestyle has made a person reckless and chaotic. There is no fixed time to sleep or to wake up. There is no regularity in daily routine. Routine means – What you usually do throughout a day.
Always remember, only your thinking causes chaos in your life, none else can disrupt you.
You ought to realize that small minor problems keep occurring in the life. It is also true that the nest of your progress is also weaved from the strings of your habits. You cannot develop in a single day. So it is important to utilize each moment of your life and you will have to get busy to achieve this. However stay busy, but without any chaos.
Performing the right work at the right time is the basis of the balanced life. This is the simple principle of routine. The time once passed, never comes back. Recognize the importance of time else time will not care for you.
The Time appreciates the person who respects it. There is a saying in English – Time and Tide wait for none.
Another important fact is that if you are dissatisfied at the current moment, then you will definitely be dissatisfied at another future moment as well. You are not satisfied with the current situation and wish for a few favourable events or tasks to happen as per your choice. You are mistaken if you feel that you will get satisfied or happy if those events occur.
Anyone who lives within the ring of his mind and who lives as per his mind, will never be happy in life. He will always be dissatisfied because dissatisfaction is the primary nature of the mind. This mind is very odd, it lives in the future among its desires. It also likes to live in the past. People facing tough situations force their mind to remember about the satisfactions received in the past events or past achievements. The mind deceives the person. It always tries to make you become like the others. So what to do? Should we control the mind to prevent entry of any dissatisfaction.
Difference between success and failure
Some people achieve success in their life while others fail. There are two categories of failures. The first category consists of people who do not think thoroughly and start working without any prior plan. The second category of failures are the people who carefully think and make plans, but do not act on their plans.
Therefore think thoroughly, make plans and act on them. You can achieve success through thought, analysis, plan and action. There are thousands of thoughts but someone does not have any time to contemplate them. Others do not have time to think and understand where they need to go. Everybody feels that the world is rushing at a fast pace, others are also running, so we also need to run.
If we leave aside three or four percent of persons, Ninety Five (95%) of people are living this chaotic life. Their lifestyle is focused on nature, luxuries and materialism; and such a lifestyle makes life chaotic instead of busy.
A busy lifestyle is not bad for a person because “an ideal mind is a devil’s workshop”. However, you should remember that being excessive busy is also harmful. This is so because everyone is too eager and impatient. This is the biggest disease. Everyone wishes to complete everything in a hurry, everything should be done quickly, the results should be immediate, and this ecosystem makes life highly chaotic.
If a person has to go to a doctor, or to meet an officer or to visit a monk or sage, then he certainly goes there and is ever-ready to give anything in return. His only demand is that his work should be done quickly. Everyone has forgotten to wait. Such impatience and haste definitely makes the person chaotic. The impatience is the slag within him. He appears normal from outside, but he is highly tangled mentally.
Such situation worsens his jobs. He himself converts his gains into losses; and success into failure.
After all, what’s the hurry for?
First you should understand the meaning of hurry. The habit to quickly perform the task without thinking about its results is called impatience. Such a habit creates turbulence within his life, along with causing chaos in his family and society.
Imagine going to visit a temple, or standing in a queue to obtain ticket for a train or a bus. Will your task be done smoothly by standing quietly in a queue, or by jostling in a scuffle. You will not be able to complete your tasks smoothly with this attitude of “Me First”. Do not get impatient in everything. The biggest problem of this age is restlessness and impatience. The human mind has become empty with all this rush and anxious impatience. It is a fact that an impatient person always tries to avoid difficult and adverse situations. Such a person’s mind is always filled with sadness, despair, anxiety and stress. Therefore he is afflicted with diseases like high blood pressure, ulcers and Heart-attacks.
This impatience is termed as the Fast Life, and this fast life has eliminated peace from the life. The latest disease is – “Nervous Breakdown“. This fills the person’s heart with suspicion, doubt, fear and confusion. Such people are always anxious, and spread this anxiety to others.
The only remedy to cure this disease is to develop patience within yourself, and to strategically plan your actions. One should not cry over small trifles.
A person needs to win himself before starting to win the world. The biggest problem of current age is to cure the inner mental turmoil. Every harried person experiences absence of relaxation, comfort and satisfaction in his life. One has to search for this satisfaction in one’s mind, it is not possible for someone else to offer you this satisfaction, nor can you make use of his satisfaction.
You should take a moment to realize that none of the life’s moment is trivial. Every moment of life produces something new for us. It is necessary for us to discipline ourselves. You should daily coach your mind.
The twin ends of life are – “enjoyment” and “sacrifice” which the scriptures refer to as trend and retirement. One end of life is “work” and the other end is “idle“. One end of life is “action” and the other end is “indolence“. One should constantly maintain a balance between these two points. One cannot lead the whole life only on the “trend” i.e. “indulgence“, continuing on the same path, continue to obtain, constant accumulation; and similarly life cannot be led only through the path of renunciation, lethargy, sacrifice, giving-up or liberation-sense.
Creating a balance between trend and sacrifice is essential to lead a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Build a bridge in your mind between these two points, to enjoy both senses and to remove chaos from your life.
Therefore our yoga scripture contain a beautiful word – “alertness“. Whatever you do, do with full consciousness, do with full awareness. You should have complete realization of whatever you do or whatever you speak. You should be fully aware of your duties as well as of your personality. You lead a conscious life when both these elements reside within you. Only then will you realize joy in your life.
You should think about the best incident of your life, you should yourself answer this question. If you have to think hard to answer, then it simply means that you are just leading a life, and are not living it. Your life has become chaotic. You should control this chaos, and live life consciously on your terms.
