कुलदेवी – महाकृपा

 

जो प्रत्यक्ष आशीर्वाद देती है
अगर आपसे प्रश्‍न किया जाए कि क्या आप अपने कुल देवी या कुल देवता का नाम ले सकते हैं तो 10 में से 9 लोग सकपका जाएंगे, अरे ये क्या प्रश्‍न है? बस कुल देवता होते है।

 

पूजा-आराधना का तो प्रश्‍न ही नहीं उठता है?
क्यों आवश्यक है कुल देवी या कुल देवता की पूजा?
और कैसे उनकी आराधना आपकी प्रगति से जुड़ी हुई है?
समझते हैं, इस लेख में।

 

एकेनापि सुपुत्रेण विद्या युक्ते च साधुना
आल्हादितं कुलं सर्व यथा चन्द्रेण सर्वरी

 

जिस प्रकार अकेला चन्द्रमा रात्रि की शोभा बढ़ा देता है, वैसे ही एक योग्य विद्वान संतान अपने पूरे कुल को आल्हादित रोशन करती है।

 

 

जब भी दीक्षा संस्कार होता है, तो उसके आरम्भ में, मैं निम्नलिखित मंत्र बोलता हूं –
ॐ लक्ष्मी नारायणाभ्याम् नमः वाणी हिरण्यगर्भाभ्याम् नमः स्थान देवताभ्योः नमः
कुल देवताभ्यो नमः
मातृ-पितृ चरण कमलेभ्यो नमः
सर्वेभ्यो देवेभ्यो नमः।
दीक्षा संस्कार का प्रारम्भ लक्ष्मी नारायण के आह्वान से होता है और कुल देवी या कुल देवता को नमन से होता है। ऐसा इसलिए क्योंकि कुलदेवी या देवता व्यक्ति की वंशावली की सुरक्षा करते हैं और उस व्यक्ति विशेष या परिवार का सुरक्षा चक्र स्थापित करते हैं।

 

कुल देवी-देवता और इष्ट

 

कई बार लोग यह भूल करते हैं कि इष्ट को कुल देवी या देवता से सम्बन्द्ध कर लेते हैं। इष्ट आपके प्रिय देवी और देवता हैं जिनकी आराधना करके आपका मन प्रसन्न होता है। इसका अभिप्राय है कि पति और पत्नी के अलग-अलग इष्ट हो सकते हैं, पर कुल देवी या कुल देवता तो पूरे परिवार और खानदान के एक ही होते हैं।

 

इनकी इतनी अधिक महत्ता होने के बाद भी आपके घर के मन्दिर में कुल देवी या देवता स्थापित नहीं हैं, वो लोग जो गांव से शहर विस्थापित होते हैं, उनके कुल देवी-देवता गांव में ही रह जाते हैं और कालान्तर में उपेक्षित होते रहते हैं। कई बार इन भूले-बिसरे कुल देवी या देवता की याद बेटे-बेटी के विवाह के समय घर-परिवार को आती हैं। विवाह का पहला निमंत्रण पत्र कुल देवता को अर्पित किया जाता है। घर में जब नई बहू आती है तो उसे भी आशीर्वाद दिलाने हेतु कुल देवी या देवता की पूजा की जाती है। इसके मूल में भाव तो यही रहता है कि विवाह संस्कार द्वारा लड़के-लड़की नया जीवन आरम्भ कर रहे हैं और उन्हें कुल देवी या कुल देवता अपने सुरक्षा चक्र में ले लें।

 

कुल देवी- कुल देवता की कृपा

 

इतना तो आप समझ गए हैं कि कुल देवी-देवता की कृपा परिवार की चहुंमुखी उन्नति के लिए आवश्यक है, क्योंकि परिवार में कुल और वृक्ष में मूल (जड़) एक जैसे हैं। कुल किसी भी परिवार की मूलभूत इकाई है और एक कुल के लोगों का एक-दूसरे से रक्त-जनित सम्बन्ध है। बेशक वे समय के प्रवाह में एक-दूसरे से बहुत अलग हो गए हैं, पर वंशावलि तो एक ही है।

 

ऐसी मान्यता है कि कुल देवता और कुल देवी की पूजा छोड़ने के बाद तत्काल कोई प्रभाव नहीं दिखता है, पर जैसे-जैसे वह सुरक्षा चक्र टूटता है, परिवार में र्दुघटनाएं और नकारात्मक ऊर्जा बेरोक-टोक प्रवेश करती हैं।

 

इसका अर्थ हुआ कि अगर आपके परिवार में बार-बार दुर्घटनाएं  हो रही हैं या आप बाधाओं से त्रस्त हैं, तो जानने का प्रयास कीजिए कि आखिरी बार आपके परिवार में कुल देवी या देवता का पूजन कब हुआ था?

 

सफलता का आधार स्तम्भ

 

जीवन में जो भी वांछनीय है, उसके लिए दैवी कृपा अनिवार्य है। इसलिए आप साधनात्मक ऊर्जा द्वारा अपने लिए दैवी कृपा सुनिश्‍चित करते हैं, यही कारण है कि आप साधनाओं को सम्पन्न करते समय अपना पूर्ण परिचय देते हैं- नाम, गौत्र, ग्राम और दिनांक क्योंकि आप उस असीम सत्ता के दरबार में अपनी उपस्थिति रजिस्टर्ड कराना चाहते हैं।

 

अब जब आप कुल देवी या देवता की आराधना करते हैं, उस समय आपके अपने स्वजन आपका पक्ष लेकर उस असीम सत्ता के समक्ष उपस्थित होते हैं। जाहिर है, ऐसी अवस्था में अपनी साधनात्मक सफलता और सिद्धियां सुदृढ़ होती हैं, आपकी इच्छाएं पूर्ण होती हैं और आप साधना पथ पर प्रगति करते हैं।

 

व्यक्ति की पहचान – कुल देवी-देवता

 

व्यक्ति की पहचान सर्वप्रथम उसके कुल से होती है। जिस प्रकार नाम होता है उसी प्रकार प्रत्येक व्यक्ति का गोत्र होता है, उसी प्रकार कुल भी होता है। ‘कुल’ अर्थात खानदान या उसकी वंश परम्परा। जिस वंश से वह सम्बन्धित होता है, वह वंश तो हजारों-लाखों वर्षों से चला आ रहा है, लेकिन आज सामान्य व्यक्ति अपने कुल की तीन-चार पीढ़ियों से अधिक के नाम नहीं जानता। यह कैसी विडम्बना है? यदि किसी व्यक्ति से उसके परदादा के भाइयों के नाम पूछे जाएं, तो वह बता नहीं पाता है। यह न भी याद रहे तो भी अपने कुल और गोत्र का सदैव ध्यान रखना तो आवश्यक ही है क्योंकि प्रत्येक कुल परम्परा में उस कुल के पूजित कोई देवी-देवता अवश्य होते हैं इसलिए वार, त्यौहार, पर्व आदि पर स्वर्गीय दादा, परदादा के साथ ही कुल देवता अथवा कुलदेवी को भोग अर्पण अवश्य ही किया जाता है।

 

कुल देवता का तात्पर्य है – जिस देवता की कृपा से कुल में अभिवृद्धि हुई है, परिवार को सदैव एक अभय छत्र प्राप्त होता रहा है।

 

वाल्मीकि रामायण में देखने को मिलता है कि विश्‍वामित्र के आश्रम में विद्या अर्जित कर पुनः अयोध्या लौटने पर भगवान राम ने अपने कुल के सभी देवी देवताओं का आशीर्वाद प्राप्त करने के लिए साधना की थी। राजमहल के अन्दर ही एक मन्दिर में सभी देवी देवताओं की दिव्य जाग्रत मूर्तियां थीं। उन्हीं की साधना करने से भगवान राम को सभी कुल देवताओं का आशीर्वाद प्राप्त हुआ था जिसके कारण वे आने वाले समय में युगपुरुष सिद्ध हो सके।

 

यदि ध्यान दिया जाए, तो विशेष साधनाओं के पूर्व जिस प्रकार गणपति पूजन, गुरु पूजन, भैरव स्मरण आदि आवश्यक रूप से सम्पन्न किया जाता है, उसी प्रकार संक्षिप्त रूप में ‘कुलदेवताभ्यो नमः’ शब्दों का भी उच्चारण किया जाता है। यह कुलदेवता के प्रति अभिवादन है जिससे हमें उनका आशीर्वाद प्राप्त हो एवं साधना में सफलता सुनिश्‍चित की जा सके। वस्तुतः कुल देवता ही साधक को समस्त प्रकार के वैभव, उन्नति, शक्ति, प्रतिष्ठा, सुख, शांति प्रदान करने में सक्षम होते हैं यदि उन्हें साधना द्वारा प्रसन्न कर लिया जाए तो।

 

अगर आप नहीं जानते हैं अपना कुल देवी-देवता

 

कई बार लोगों को अपने कुल देवी या देवता का ज्ञान नहीं होता है। ऐसी दशा में शिव और जगदम्बा आपके कुल देवी या देवता हैं क्योंकि इस संसार की सृष्टि शिव और शक्ति के संयोग से है।

 

कुलदेवता-कुलदेवी साधना विधान

 

यह दो सप्ताह की साधना है जो किसी भी अमावस्या से प्रारम्भ की जा सकती है। अर्थात् यदि साधना सोमवार को प्रारम्भ की जाए, तो पन्द्रह दिन बाद सोमवार को ही उस साधना का समापन भी किया जाना चाहिए। इस साधना हेतु ‘कुलदेवता यंत्र’, ‘कुलदेवी भैषज’ एवं ‘प्रत्यक्ष सिद्धि माला’ की आवश्यकता होती है। इसके अलावा साधना में कोई विशेष कर्मकाण्ड अर्थात् विधान नहीं होता है।

 

प्रातः अथवा रात्रि में स्नान कर पूर्व की ओर मुख कर अपने सामने गुरु चित्र रख कर सद्गुरु का संक्षिप्त पूजन सम्पन्न करें। फिर दाहिने हाथ में जल लेकर संकल्प करें, कि मैं अपने कुल देवता और कुल देवी को प्रसन्न करने के लिए इस साधना को सम्पन्न कर रहा हूं और उनकी कृपा प्राप्त करने की प्रार्थना कर रहा हूं जिससे वे मुझे जीवन में हर प्रकार की सफलता एवं समृद्धि प्रदान करें तथा विपत्तियों से मेरी रक्षा करें। इस भाव को मन में धारण कर निम्न संकल्प का उच्चारण करें –

 

ॐ अद्य अमुक गोत्रीयः (अपना गौत्र बोलें), अमुक शर्माऽहं (नाम बोलें) स्व कुलदेवता प्रीत्यर्थ सकल मनोकामना पूर्ति निमित्तं कुलदेवता साधनां सम्पत्स्ये।
जल को भूमि पर छोड़ दें, फिर कुलदेवता यंत्र को जल से धोकर पोछ दें और किसी पात्र में पुष्प का आसन देकर स्थापित करें। फिर यंत्र पर कुंकुम, अक्षत व नैवेद्य चढ़ाएं।

 

‘कुलदेवी भैषज’ को मौली से लपेट कर यंत्र के मध्य भाग में स्थापित करें, फिर निम्न मंत्र को पांच बार बोलते हुए भैषज पर कुंकुम से पांच बिन्दियां लगाएं –

 

ॐ एतोस्मानं श्री खण्डचन्दनं समर्पयामि ॐ कुल देवतायै नमः।

 

इसके बाद ‘प्रत्यक्ष सिद्धि माला’ से निम्न मंत्र की 5 माला पन्द्रह दिन तक नित्य करें –

 

कुल देवता मंत्र
॥ॐ ह्रीं कुल देवतायै मनोवांछितं साधय साधय फट्॥
अंतिम दिन यंत्र के समक्ष घर का बना हुआ नैवेद्य (मिष्ठान्न) अर्पित करें। साधना समाप्ति पर समस्त सामग्री को नैवेद्य के साथ किसी कपड़े में लपेट कर सरोवर, नदी अथवा मन्दिर में अर्पित कर दें। शीघ्र ही साधना के परिणाम सामने आते हैं, एवं साधक को अपने कुल देवता और कुल देवी के दर्शन होते हैं और उनकी कृपा प्राप्त होती है।

A single moon lights up the beauty of the entire night sky, similarly a competent scholarly child enhances the reputation-status of his entire family.

 

I chant the following Mantra at the beginning of every Diksha initiation ceremony –

 

Om Lakshmee Naaraayanaabhyaam NamaH Vaanee

Hiranyagarbhabhyaam NamaH Sthaan DevataabhyoH NamaH

Kula DevataabhyoH NamaH

Maatr-Pitr Charana Kamalebhyo NamaH

Sarvebhyo DevebhyoH NamaH |

 

The Diksha initiation ceremony starts with the invocation of Lord Lakshmi Narayan and we pray to the Family Deity.  The Family Deity protects the genealogy of the person, and this Tutelary Deity bestows a divine protection-ring around that family.

 

Kul-Devata (Family Deity) and Ishta-Devata (Favorite Deity)

Sometimes people mistakenly believe the Favorite Deity to be the Family Deity. Favorite Deity is your beloved God or Goddess, whose worship brings peace and calm into your mind. This means that a husband and wife may have separate Favorite Deities, but the entire family or clan will have only one single Family Deity.

The Family Deity is not setup in the worship-altar in your home, in spite of such high importance. The Family Deity remained in the village when people move away from the villages to the cities. The Family Deity keeps getting neglected and ignored. The family remembers Them only during the marriage of their children. The first invite of marriage is offered to the Family Deity. The newly married bride participates in the worship to Family Deity to obtain Their blessings. The essence lies in the fact that the newly married couple is starting a new life after marriage, and prayer is made to the Family Deity to include them in the divine protection-ring.

 

Blessings of Family Deity

You must have understood by now that grace of Family Deity is highly necessary for overall all-round progress of the family. The Kul (Family) in Clan is completely akin to the Mul (Root) of a tree. Family is the fundamental unit of a Clan and all members of a family have blood relationships with each other. The ravages of the time may have separated and differentiated members of a clan, but they belong to the same lineage.

It is believed that any instant benefit  is not visible after worship of the Family Deity. However, uncontrollable negativity and accidents enter into the family, as soon as the protection-ring gets compromised.

This implies that if your family is experiencing frequent accidents or if you are suffering from obstacles then you should try to ascertain the last time when the Family Deity was worshipped.

 

The Foundation Base of Success

Divine grace is mandatory to achieve all wishes in life. Therefore, we perform Sadhanas to obtain positive energy and divine blessings. Hence we provide a full introduction while starting a Sadhana – name, gotra, village and date. This helps us to register our attendance in the divine court of the Almighty.

While worshipping Family Deity, your own relations approach Divinity to support your case. Thus this strengthens your Sadhana accomplishments and successes, fulfilling your wishes-desires, enabling you to proceed ahead on the divine path of the Sadhanas.

 

A Person’s Identify – His Family Deity

A person gets identified by his or her family. The family-clan name and Gotra, is specifically linked to the name. The literal meaning of the word “Kul’ is the clan and its associated genealogy. The associated family lineage has been continuing for the past thousands of years. However, a typical person does not know the names beyond the immediate 3-4 ancestral generations. This is really ironic. A person cannot recall the names of brothers of his great grandfather. However it is utterly important to remember the details of his family and gotra. Every family-clan has a tradition of worshipping the Family Deity. Food offerings are certainly offered on significant days of festivals to the Family Deity, along with departed grandparents and great-grandparents.

Family Deity signifies – The God who has  blessed the family-clan to progress from the times immemorial,  and the bestower of grace and protection-ring to the family-clan.

Valmiki Ramayana contains a context of Lord Rama performing a Sadhana to obtain blessings of all Family Deities after His return back to Ayodhya after completion of His education in Sage Vishwamitra’s ashram. A temple within the palace housed divine activated idols of all Gods and Goddesses.  Lord Rama obtained blessings of His Family deities by performing Sadhanas of these Gods-Goddesses, enabling Him to attain distinguished accomplishments later-on in life.

If we pay careful attention, we will realize that the words “Kuladevataabhyo NamaH” are briefly pronounced, along with worship of Lord Ganapati, Guru and Lord Bheirav, during initiation of all special Sadhanas. This is a greeting to the Family Deity to pay our respects and obtain blessings for success in the Sadhana. Thus the Family Deity pleased with Sadhanas bestows all kinds of prosperity, success, power, prestige, joy and peace.

 

If you do not know about your Family Deity

Many people do not have adequate knowledge about their Family Deity. In such cases, you should consider Lord Shiva and Goddess Jagdamba as your Family Deity since this entire universe has originated from the divine union of Shiva and Shakti

 

Sadhana Procedure for Family Deity

It is a two-week Sadhana practice which can be initiated from any Amavasya (New-Moon). For example, if the Sadhana is started on a Monday, then it should be culminated on a Monday after completion of 15 days. You will require “Kuldevataa Yantra“, “Kuldevi Bheishaja” and “Pratyaksh Siddhi Mala” for this Sadhana. There is no need of any special ritual or rite in this Sadhana.

Take a bathe in the morning or night,  and sit facing East direction. Place Guru picture in front of you and perform a short worship of Guru. Then pledge taking water in right palm that – I am performing  this sadhana to please my Family Deity,  and am  praying to obtain Their blessings and grace to bestow all kinds of success and prosperity in my life and guard me from all kinds of problems and troubles. Chant following Sankalp resolution with the above feeling in mind-

 

Om Aaddh Amooka GotriyaH (speak your Gotra name), Amooka Sharmaaham (speak your name) Swa Kuldevataa Preetyartha Sakala Manokaamanaa Poorti Nimitttam Kuladevataa Saadhanaaam Sampatsye |

 

Drop the water on the ground.  Thereafter bathe “Kuldevataa Yantra” with water and wipe with clean cloth. Setup on a seat of flowers in a plate. Then offer Kumkum, Akshat and Neivedhya.

Tie “Kuldevi Bheishaja” with a Mouli sacred thread and setup on the center of the Yantra. Put five marks on Bheishaja with kumkum chanting following Mantra five times-

 

Om Etosmaanam Shree Khandachandanam Samarpayaami Om Kula Devataayei NamaH ||

 

Thereafter chant 5 malas of following Mantra with “Pratyaksh Siddhi Mala” for 15 days-

 

Kul Devataa Mantra

||  Om Hreem Kula Devataayei Manovaanchitam Saadhaya Saadhaya Phat ||

 

Offer a homemade Neivedhya (sweets) on the Yantra on last day. Wrap the entire set of Sadhana materials along with the Neivedhya with a cloth and offer it in a pond, river or a temple. The results of the Sadhana gets realized quickly. The Sadhak gets a vision of his Family Deities and obtains Their divine blessings.
