अपनों से अपनी बात…

Dialog with Loved Ones…
Heartiest congratulations on Nikhil Janmotsava. You meet me frequently to discuss your topics and express your curiosities. This dialog is not just verbal, it transcends into our mental frames as well. Some questions remain permanently stuck in your mind, and these questions put you through lots of mental turmoil and confusion. I am also asking you some questions today. Think deeply and answer within your mind.
All of you desire three things in life – Happiness, Pleasure and Peace. All of your questions are generally related to these three core elements. You wish to have sufficient quantities of happiness, pleasure and peace. How do I obtain enough of this sufficiency in this world? First, you need to comprehend the basic definition of sufficiency (Hindi translation: Paryaapt). How do you measure it? Does it have an upper limit, or is it limitless infinity? Thinking deeply about these points will certainly help you to realize it.
Paryaapt = Pari + Aapt
Whatever can be fully obtained, is termed as “Sufficient”. Whatever can be properly obtained, obtained with less efforts, is also termed as “sufficient”. Now, to actually “achieve” the “sense of sufficiency”, we will need to ascertain our requirements? And analyze the types of actions which we are executing to fulfill those requirements. We will neither fulfill our requirements nor obtain sufficiently, just by dreaming or thinking. However, it is certain that everyone has a different definition of sufficiency.
A glass can contain 250 ml of water. A jug can hold 1 liter and a bucket can hold 20 liters. Similarly, a river may amass millions of metric tons of water, or an ocean can store infinite quantity of water. So, this means that the capacity of the container determines the quantity of the sufficiency, (or enough adequacy)
Now everyone desires sufficient for his or her own self. Think – Who determines and decides the sense of sufficiency. If your own goals are setting up the limits of your own sufficiency, then you will never confront any trouble in your life. You will never get tired. You have to state-
From the day I started
I am focused on my goal,
These eyes have
Never been cast on any milestone.
Because I know
The route will open wherever I step forth.
The human mind stores three different kinds of thoughts –
First- O Lord! Grant me sufficient to enable me to eat well, and continue to lead the life.
Second- O Lord! Grant me enough so that I can feed myself as well as the Sadhu (guest) at my door.
And the Third- I aspire for the limitless. I should continue to obtain unabated, much more than anyone else. I should have so much that it cannot be counted.
All three above values depend on the basic nature of the person. The third value is very intense – it is the sense to get the maximum, much more than the necessity. The need to have much more extra after fulfillment of all requirements. Such feeling denotes insufficiency of the sufficient. However, this is a double-edged sword. You never get satiated with your actions. The happiness and peace disappears from the life. Therefore, first you need to determine – who is deciding your limits of sufficiency? Are you determining it, or are your neighbors, relatives, friends, enemies or society making this decision. If you make this decision, and set your own goals, then you will certainly perform the required actions, and will never get tired. You will continue to work peacefully. However, if others are setting up the limits of sufficiency on your behalf, then you are nothing more than an unstable pitcher-pot, which everyone continues to tilt away. Your thoughts lack any definite basis and you do not have any definite goals. Others continue to push you in this rat race of the society. You are not running with your own mind. Someone else continues to push and bump you. Now, how will you obtain happiness, pleasure or peace in such situation?
There were two pots on a water-stand – one small and one very big. The thirsty always used the small pot to squench their thirst, because its water became colder quickly. The water in bigger pot used to take a lot of time to get cold. Your requirements follow a similar analogy. You have to determine how important your needs are and why so? Do you want to fulfill these needs for your own self, or for someone else?
The day your realize this, you will automatically obtain the twin bliss of pleasure and peace yourself. Because the needs are your own, you are fulfilling them for your own self, and you are obtaining pleasure yourself while fulfilling them. This is the Self-Love, i.e. giving importance to own self.
Two factors reduce your pleasure – first comparing your happiness with others, and secondly focusing on your own sorrows. You can add as much as you want, you will never obtain pleasure or peace in such scenarios
You will definitely obtain what is sufficient, along with the limitless. You will get pleasure and happiness. You just need to determine your goals with your mind. The pleasure and peace reside within your own mind. However, you continue to wear the eye-glasses of limitless infinity on your eyes. These illusion glasses continue to give you inadequacy and insufficiency. You just need to determine the degrees of your sufficiency.
Both of us – You and I are progressing together on this path of pleasure, peace and happiness. This is why you have to hold Guru’s fingers. Guru has already offered you His hand. The inadequacy will certainly end, and you will definitely obtain the sufficiency according to your own mind. This is my blessing …
